Zarzamora Home to New Baptist Emergency Hospital in South San Antonio

Baptist Emergency Hospital will be breaking ground on a new two-story hospital in the South San Antonio area.
SAN ANTONIO – December 9, 2015 –San Antonio-based hospital system Baptist Emergency Hospital announced today that it will be breaking ground on a new two-story hospital serving residents in the South San Antonio area- an area that has been underserved for more than 30 years.
A ceremonial groundbreaking and turning of the shovels is set to take place at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, December 16 at the corner of IH 35 South and Zarzamora- the future home of Baptist Emergency Hospital Zarzamora.
The 38,500 square-foot micro-hospital will house a state-of-the-art emergency department, inpatient beds, advanced imaging center and ambulatory service center.
Hospital officials say the new facility, to open in the winter of 2016, will be staffed by board-certified physicians who are dedicated to providing the same compassionate care Baptist Emergency Hospital is known for.
The announcement of the new facility comes just weeks after Baptist Emergency Hospital celebrated another milestone at its locations at Overlook and Thousand Oaks, when they were awarded the 2015 Press Ganey Guardian of Excellence Award for outstanding performance in patient experience, for the third year in a row.
The Guardian of Excellence Award, a nationally recognized symbol of achievement in health care, is presented annually to top-performing health care organizations that have consistently achieved the 95th percentile or above for performance in patient experience.
According to Adolfo Carrasco, regional CEO for Baptist Emergency Hospital, the award is a testament to the quality of care his clinical team provides to San Antonio residents every day.
